COURSE DESCRIPTION: The interactive, 2-day intermediate workshop (18 nursing contact hours) is designed for registered nurses, certified nurse midwives, or physicians with a minimum six months clinical nursing experience using fetal heart monitoring technology in an intrapartum setting. It is expected that the participant already has basic knowledge and related skills in the following areas: " Maternal and fetal physiology " Interpretation of fetal and uterine monitor tracings " Evaluation of auscultated fetal heart sounds " Leopold's Maneuvers " Placement of fetal spiral electrodes and intrauterine pressure catheters " Evaluation of and strategies for enhancing communication.
