Traditional quilting has rules for creating colorful patterns with fabric. Quilt painting is another process, working with different "rules," to create fabric for display or other functional uses. This technique gives you a certain freedom to explore new ways to work with fabric. The materials used are cotton fabric, batting and acrylic paint. The technique for transferring an idea onto fabric and creating an image will be demonstrated. If you have skill with drawing and painting, the application of color is like using watercolor paint. No specific experience with painting is needed. Art styles from cave art to traditional Renaissance painting, to cartoon or movie characters can be used for inspiration.
