Art Camp: Exploring the Elements and Principles of Art (Entering Grades 5-8)

Students will encounter the elements and principles of art with decorative pottery, painting, and printmaking. They will spend four days exploring the elements of line, shape, color, value, and texture. Students will be using various techniques to organize these elements and develop compositions that use pattern, unity and emphasis by creating a decorative glazed surface on pottery as well as creating a small collage painting. Students will also create a mono-printmaking process using a Gelli plate. The camp will conclude with a Student Art Gallery Exhibit. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the Gallery Exhibit.
